Lone Stars Absorb 6-3 Loss at Higgins Park
|
Pedro Hardy, who finished 2nd in the PL in strikeouts with 305 last year, propelled his team to victory over the Houston Lone Stars. The final score was 6-3, New Orleans. Dan Williams earned his 17th save in 23 chances. By defeating Houston, the 5th-place Pelicans improved to 44-47.
Had Wes Ballenger not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Ballenger hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Pelicans.
"Pedro didn't fool around out there," said New Orleans field general Day Breaker.
