Tim Adams led the Hilo Islanders to a shutout victory, 5-0, over the Butte Miners at Alumni Coliseum.

"My pitching coach told me before the game just to bear down and focus," Adams recalled later. "He said no one was going to hit me if I'm throwing a good breaking ball with good location."

Adams yielded 3 hits and had 10 strikeouts and 2 walks in the standout performance.

"I thought he put the ball where he wanted to," Butte manager said. "And that's just about the whole secret to pitching."

This season, Adams has fanned 129 in 112 innings and collected a 6-4 record with a 2.25 ERA.
