Salazar Sends Berkeley Bats to Deep Freeze
The Berkeley Beacon were almost helpless today in their 7-0 loss to the Casa Grande Cotton Kings and hurler Joe Salazar. Salazar kept the Beacon confused all game, spinning a 4-hit shutout.

"Tip your hat to Salazar," Berkeley manager said in a postgame interview. "He kept us off balance all night."

The 23-year-old left-hander had no walks and 12 strikeouts in a strong performance.

"It just happened to be one of those games where even when I made mistakes, they either fouled them off or someone would make a fine defensive play," Salazar said. "It was just one of those games that things went my way."

To this point in the season Salazar has no saves in no relief appearances with a 6-2 record and 1.54 ERA.
