Almost There: New Orleans On Cusp of WCS Triumph After 4-3 Win
|
The New Orleans Pelicans moved to within one game of the League Championship Series today, downing the visiting Homer Yetis at Higgins Park by a score of 4-3. Pelicans left-hander Sergio Estrada had a strong outing in which he threw 8.0 innings of 4-hit ball. The win gives the Pelicans a 3-1 advantage in the best-of-7 Wild Card Series.
Estrada, the New Orleans left-hander, went 8 innings, allowing 3 runs on 4 hits. He collected 13 strikeouts.
"We had the game right there for the taking," said Homer manager Drew Johnson. "But we decided not to take it."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Higgins Park in New Orleans.
