Jackson Takes Round 1
Wednesday, September 18th , 2013
The Round 1 didn't live up to the billing from those who thought it would be an all-out battle to the last game.
But the Jackson Hermits are no doubt pleased by the results, as they have knocked out the Baton Rouge Red Sticks 3-1 to advance to the Round 2.
"It doesn't matter how you win it, as long as you win it and get yourself moving forward," said Hermits catcher Octávio Rodríguez. "I know a lot of people thought this was going to be a really tight series the whole way through, but we're glad it didn't go right down to the wire."
Jackson won the final game by a score of 4-0 at Baton Rouge Grounds.
Rodríguez was named series MVP after hitting .333 with a .385 on-base percentage. He also had 1 home runs, drove in 6 RBI and scored 1 runs.
The Jackson Hermits will play against the Wichita Aviators in the next round. Wichita won their series against the Provo Gulls 3 games to 0. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes.
