Miller Spectacular in 6-0 Win
Monday, August 31st , 2015
Chris Miller of the Riverside Firebolts was on top of his game.

The 32-year-old tantalized the Ventura Oranges with crisp curves and changeups, mixed in with just enough fastballs to keep the batters honest, shutting them out, 6-0.

"He had the changeup working," Ventura manager said in postgame comments. "You knew it was coming and you still grounded out -- and then he threw it even slower."

The Riverside hurler had 12 strikeouts, gave up no walks and surrendered 1 hit in his complete-game effort.

Miller told reporters after the game that "keeping the ball down is the key to being successful in this league."

"If you don't do that, they'll make you pay," he said.

Miller has taken the mound for no relief appearances this season, nailing down no saves while notching a 5-4 record with a 2.78 ERA. The Riverside reliever has limited opposing batters to a .209 batting average.
