Wednesday, September 16th , 2015
The joy and relief on the faces of the Butte Miners players was obvious as they celebrated their Round 1 win over the Anaheim Mice.
"In a series like this, the smallest thing can make the difference in how it turns out," said Butte center fielder Christian Marshall, shortly after the 4-1 win that clinched the series 3-2. "We're happy we did what it takes to get it done."
The team is now off to the Round 2.
Marshall won series MVP honors on the strength of his .316 batting average during the series. He also had a .391 on-base percentage and 1 home runs, drove in 2 RBI and scored 4 runs.
The Butte Miners will play against the Santa Barbara Foresters in the next round. Santa Barbara won their series against the Hilo Islanders 3 games to 2. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes.
