Chords Cruise to Round 2 with Sweep Saturday, September 13th , 2014 The Austin Chords appear poised to make a serious run at the Round 3 after a convincing sweep over the Brownsville Impact in the Round 1. It's now on to the Round 2 for Austin, who won the final game 6-1 and took the series 3-0. "Everyone's doing their part and things are falling into place," said Austin first baseman Alden Phillips, who was named series MVP. "It feels like a special year." For the series, Phillips hit .417 with a .462 on-base percentage. He had 2 home runs, drove in 4 RBI and scored 2 runs. The Austin Chords don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Provo Gulls - Wichita Aviators series. Provo leads the series 2 games to 1. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes. View Boxscore |
