Chávez, on Top of His Game, Beats Fort Worth, 16-0
Sunday, June 26th , 2016
António Chávez hurled a fine game for the St. Paul Saints at Ballpark of Clarendon, holding the Fort Worth Falcons to 5 hits in a shutout win.
"When he started out, his command wasn't that good, but he's a tough guy," St. Paul manager said. "The more pitches he throws, the better his command is."
The right-hander had 12 strikeouts and 3 walks in the 16-0 victory.
"An outstanding job," Fort Worth manager said. "We couldn't get anything going. Every time we got a hit, he got out of the jam. He pitched a terrific game."
Chávez has started 16 times this year, pitched 113 innings, fanned 163 batters and walked 33. His current record is 8 wins and 4 losses with a 2.79 ERA.
