Great Stroke: Merced Gets 5 Hits
Tuesday, June 2nd , 2015
It was a good day for the Oilers at Tangled Blues Ballpark as they clipped the Delacroix Tangled Blues, 3-2. It was tremendous day for Pete Merced, who was on a hitting barrage at the plate, finishing 5-for-6.
"I don't know what to call that," the El Dorado left fielder told reporters after his big performance. "I'm not 'dialed in' or 'in a zone,' I just try to keep it simple. Basically the pitcher throws the ball, I try to pick up the spin, then I hit it. Today I picked up the spin pretty well."
Pete Merced singled in the 1st, grounded out in the 3rd, doubled in the 6th, doubled in the 8th, singled in the 10th and singled in the 12th.
This year, Merced is hitting .311 with 3 home runs and 7 RBIs in 48 games played. He also boasts an OBP of .351 with 9 walks and 19 runs scored.
