Saturday, July 26th , 2014
Kansas City and Denver duked it out and the Jacks came out victorious.
Kansas City right-hander Jaime Román pitched his team to victory over the Denver Grizzlies at Jellystone Park. The final score was 5-2. In 7.2 innings, Román surrendered 8 hits, while striking out 9 and walking 3. He allowed 2 runs. Ernesto Leal was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 31 of 36 save opportunities.
Kansas City used the bat of Ken Lamb to get the win. The first baseman hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Jacks ahead, 4-2. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it did its damage.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Román told the Kansas City Daily News.
The win gives Kansas City a season record of 81-43.
