Day 5-for-6 Against Oaks
Monday, May 9th , 2016
Some moments become linked with a particular player's career forever. Dennis Day of the Monterey Sea Lions had one of those moments when he went 5-for-6 at the plate in his team's 15-0 win over the Visalia Oaks at Sea Lions Stadium.
"I won't forget this anytime soon, and I don't expect it to happen too often," the 20-year-old center fielder told reporters in the postgame interview. "I'll be happy to just get a hit or two every day. Enough to hang around the league a while longer. Like 10, maybe 15 more years."
Dennis Day hit a two-run single in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Kevin Ervin in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, struck out in the 5th, hit an RBI double in the 6th and singled in the 8th.
This season, Day has delivered 40 hits in 123 at-bats for a .325 average with 4 home runs. He is getting on base at a .366 clip and his totals also include 16 RBIs and 21 runs scored. This year Day has played in 34 games.
