Saturday, July 25th , 2015
POR-R Beavers center fielder Leonardo Reyes put on a dazzling display of power at Chase Field against the SD-R Breakers. In the 8-7 Beavers victory, Reyes penned his name into the record books, slamming a trio of home runs in one of baseball's finest single-day efforts.
"He can hit them out anywhere, right, center, left, it doesn't matter," SD-R manager said. "He's super strong and stays on the ball so well."
Along with his three home runs, the 20-year-old had 3 hits in 5 at-bats, 3 RBIs and 3 runs scored.
"Life will always throw you curves, just keep fouling them off," Reyes said after the game, when asked about his hitting philosophy. "The right pitch will come, and when it does, be prepared to run the bases. Or trot around them, like I did today."
Leonardo Reyes grounded out in the 1st, flied out in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off Juan Ruíz in the 4th, walked in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Gonzalo Batista in the 7th and hit a solo-shot off Gonzalo Batista in the 9th.
This season, Reyes has hit at a .404 clip with 40 RBIs, 15 home runs and 50 runs scored. He has played in 61 games.
