Miller King of the Hill, No-Hits Locusts
Wednesday, August 12th , 2015
Roger Miller was just plain nasty on the mound, overpowering the SLC-R Locusts in a complete game no-hitter.
The left-hander used his signature sinker to perfection as the SJ-R Owls waltzed to an easy 9-0 win.
"He was what the kids call 'filthy,'" losing manager said later.
In a dominant performance, Miller faced 27 batters in all and finished the game with 8 strikeouts and 1 walk.
"After the first couple of innings, I knew I had some good stuff going," Miller said. "In the bullpen, it really wasn't that good, to be honest. But when I got out on the mound and flipped the switch, I had some pretty good stuff."
This year, Miller has pitched 114 innings over no relief appearances, picking up no saves and held opponents to a .176 average. Miller has a 7-6 record with a 1.42 ERA and 93 strikeouts.
