Neal Goes 6-for-6
Monday, May 9th , 2016
After a 6-hit effort to lead MIN-R's 14-5 victory over the OAK-R Acorns, right fielder Rodney Neal told BNN beat writers it had been "a special day."
"It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college, two hits in a game is nice," he said. "Three or four is better, but five or more is out of sight. And to do that at the BSBL Rookie League-level is really something special."
The 19-year-old player earned his accolades at Shockers Grove with a spectacular 6-for-6 game against the Acorns.
"His swing is getting there," said Millers skipper , who spoke glowingly of Neal after the game. "We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Rodney did that to perfection."
Rodney Neal doubled in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off Jim Unknown in the 5th, doubled in the 6th, hit a GRAND SLAM off Jim Unknown in the 7th and hit a three-run home run off Jim Unknown in the 9th.
Looking at his present stats, Neal has compiled a .552 batting average in 8 games with a .629 on-base percentage, while hitting 6 home runs and driving in 17 runs.
