5-Hit Barrage by Ríos Tuesday, June 21st , 2016 It's not something you read about in the sports pages every day -- a 5-for-6 day. For many, it might come around only once in a career -- and for Ramón Ríos, it came around today. The 20-year-old right fielder scattered hits all over Cherry Valley Stadium to pace the 14-0 LV-R Strip victory over the SEA-R Rainiers. SEA-R skipper told reporters in the press room that "Ríos deserves a hat-tip." "He hit some good pitches against us," he said. "In fact, according to our scouting reports, Ríos hit several that he is not supposed to be able to hit." Ramón Ríos singled in the 1st, flied out in the 2nd, hit a two-run double in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Jim Unknown in the 6th, hit an RBI single in the 7th and singled in the 8th. For the year, Ríos is batting .348 with 31 hits and 4 home runs. He has scored 14 times and driven in 24. View Boxscore |
