Morales Reaches 300-Save Milestone in 3-1 Springfield Victory
|
José Morales had been especially quiet lately, not wanting too talk too much about anything. Morales knew that an amazing milestone was on the horizon for him. All the fabled bullpen ace needed was one more successful inning or two to achieve a special place in league history. The thought of it turned the talkative Morales silent.
But Morales's emotions erupted after he retired the Alamogordo Broncos to preserve the Springfield Indians 3-1 victory and record the 300th save of his BSBL Single A career.
One of the Indians players told reporters, "It's an amazing feat. It's probably the only time that any of us will ever have a teammate get 300 saves."
Morales has converted 300 saves in his career. Over 586 games he has compiled a 1.93 ERA, 66 wins, 32 losses and 1653 strikeouts in 942 innings pitched.
