Hutchinson Advances to Round 2 Wednesday, September 17th , 2014 The Hutchinson Salt Hawks are riding high after winning the Round 1 and eliminating the Vernon Comets by a series score of 3-1. The final blow came tonight at Comets Stadium, when Hutchinson secured its spot in the Round 2 with a 4-2 victory. "It feels good to put them away because we really didn't want to let them crawl back into this series," said first baseman Jonathan MacSwen, who was named series MVP. "A team like that, you need to bury them when you get the chance." MacSwen certainly helped his team's cause, as he hit .400 with a .438 on-base percentage in the series. He also chipped in 2 home runs, drove in 5 RBI and scored 4 runs. The Hutchinson Salt Hawks will play against the Ontario Beavers in the next round. Ontario won their series against the Santa Cruz Sailors 3 games to 1. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes. View Boxscore |
