3-HR Game for Smith Thursday, April 30th , 2015 Drake Smith went on an explosive hitting spree against the Walla Walla Wanderers at Wanderers Ballpark, launching a trio of blasts to help the Eureka Redwoods win, 9-3. The center fielder finished 3-for-3 with 3 runs scored and 4 runs batted in. "It was just one of those days," Smith said in a postgame interview. "I don't know how to explain it. I'm just putting a good swing on the ball." Walla Walla skipper said Smith was "locked-in." "We made some pretty good pitches," he said. "Those first two homers were exactly where the pitcher wanted to put them. He's just hot right now -- you've just got to tip your hat to him." Drake Smith hit a solo-shot off Jim Unknown in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Jim Unknown in the 3rd, walked in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Jim Unknown in the 6th and walked in the 8th. This season, Smith is batting .257 with 18 hits, 5 home runs, 8 RBIs, .402 OBP and has scored 18 runs. |
