Beavers Sneak Past Aztecs, 4-3

The Portland Beavers topped the Mexico City Aztecs, 4-3, in Pacific Coast League action at Multnomah Stadium. The standout performance belonged to Portland pitcher and Melbourne, Australia, native Mick Hammond. The Beavers sport a record of 59-100.
Eduardo Vega drove in one run for Portland. The 25-year old right fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the eighth. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 3-3 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Jason Hanson. It was his 62nd RBI of the season.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Portland manager .
