The Kansas City Jacks took New Orleans pitcher Felipe Barrón's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Higgins Park. The final score had Kansas City getting past the Pelicans, 4-3. Barrón went 8.1 innings and allowed 2 runs, striking out 9. Félix Velásquez, the winning pitcher, is now 13-7. He went 9 innings, allowing 3 runs on 8 hits, while fanning 5 and walking 0. The victory gives Kansas City a record of 87-46.
The most critical at-bat came in the top of the ninth inning. With one out, Orlando Ruíz hit a first pitch fastball from Sozen Rin for a run-scoring single. It put Kansas City in front, 4-3.
"We made a couple of mistakes," said New Orleans skipper , "and it cost us."
