Alamo Park was the site for Pioneer League action featuring the Reno Silver Sox and Dallas Eagles.

Dallas beat Reno on the strength of starting pitcher Leroy Matthews's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a win, 5-2. Morris Ellem wrapped it up, recording his 3rd save.

Matthews was effective for Dallas, seldom allowing the Silver Sox to square up a pitch. The right-hander tossed 95 pitches over 7.1 innings. He limited Reno to just 1 run on 3 hits.

"Leroy is pitching with a lot of determination and a lot of fire," said Dallas manager Cameron J.

The loss makes Reno 45-40.
