The Breakers have a new owner. In a press release, the Board of Directors of the San Diego Breakers announced the sale of the team to business entrepreneur Howard Gates. The new owner is regarded by close associates as tolerant. They expect him to take a penny-pincher approach to payroll issues.

With the season over and the final out recorded, teams are already looking towards the next year. Coaches, trainers, and staff are up the next day at the crack of dawn, moving pitching mounds into place, setting up equipment, loosening their arms, and prepping plans for the players they will be working with. With the doors of their development complexes open, organizations can now send players to their facility for personalized offseason work, in order to improve specific aspects of their game.
