The Portland Beavers got a marvelous performance from pitcher Francisco Leal. The right-hander kept the San Jose offense from ever getting much traction. The result was an impressive 4-0 Portland victory at Multnomah Stadium. Portland now has a record of 45-40 with the win.

Ed Lott, who is tied for 3rd in the CL in hits with 103, contributed to the Portland win with a 2-run home run in the bottom of the sixth. For the game, the right fielder had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 2 RBI.
