The Phoenix Fireballs beat the Reno Silver Sox, 7-6, in 10 innings, in part because of right fielder Stanford Reyes. He was 3-5 with 3 singles and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. The win puts the Fireballs at 58-48, while the Silver Sox drop to 53-53.

The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the tenth. With two out, Reyes hit a fastball from Juan Martínez for a run-scoring single. The Fireballs, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.
