Lyons Heroics Not Enough in 8-6 Loss to Denver
Though he had a terrific game, Kevin Lyons could not prevent his team, the Phoenix Fireballs, from absorbing a loss. Denver won the game, 8-6. Lyons slugged 2 home runs. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice. Gonzalo García, now 2-1, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. The Grizzlies move to 71-41 with the win, while the Fireballs drop to 60-51.

Carlos García went 1-2 with a walk and was hit by a pitch. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for Denver. The six-time All-Star had a key at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 6-6 tie with a run-scoring hit-by-pitch off Sergio Ramírez. It was his 76th RBI of the season.

"We'll just keep our nose to the grindstone," García told the Denver News.
