Pelicans Capture Close Win
The Austin Cowboys wasted an impressive 7-inning effort from starter Bill Simpson, falling, 2-1, to the New Orleans Pelicans at Higgins Park. At 56-56, New Orleans is in third place in the Pioneer League South.

The Pelicans got a clutch hit from shortstop Joe James. In the bottom of the tenth, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Pelicans.

During his postgame press conference, Pelicans manager Day Breaker told reporters that he expected a tight game from the get-go. "This had the potential to go down to the wire, and it certainly didn't disappoint," he said, later quipping, "it might've been a little less nerve-racking if I had been watching the game from my couch!"
