The New Orleans Pelicans beat the Austin Cowboys by a score of 7-4. New Orleans pitcher Joe Sandoval deserved the lion's share of the credit. Sandoval threw 6.2 innings allowing 2 runs for the Pelicans. The Cowboys drop to 13-13 and continue their mediocre start to the 2016 season.

Early in the game, Sandoval had a 3-run home run for New Orleans. It was his 5th home run of the season and put the Pelicans on top, 3-0.
