Valdéz Breezes to Shutout Victory
|
Warner Valdéz led the Duluth Dukes to a shutout victory, 1-0, over the Little Rock Diamonds at Dukes Ballpark.
"My pitching coach told me before the game just to bear down and focus," Valdéz recalled later. "He said no one was going to hit me if I'm throwing a good breaking ball with good location."
Valdéz yielded 4 hits and had 10 strikeouts and 2 walks in the standout performance.
"I thought he put the ball where he wanted to," Little Rock manager said. "And that's just about the whole secret to pitching."
To date this year, in 6 starts, Valdéz has crafted a 3-3 mark with a 2.74 ERA.
