The Houston Lone Stars faced a tough opponent in Sacramento pitcher Donald Richter, but still scratched out a win at Hogg Field by a final score of 6-5 in 13 innings. Richter went 7 innings and allowed 2 runs. The win puts Houston at 19-13.

The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the 13th inning, when Houston catcher Johnny Simmons, facing Luis Rivera, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Lone Stars the 6-5 win.

"What a great win for our team," said a jubilant Eric Benson, the Houston manager.
