Owls Come Up Short at San Francisco, 2-1
Pitching was the name of the game in a tight contest between the San Francisco Seals and the San Jose Owls. San Francisco won it, 2-1. San Francisco starter Jorge Garza was in command. Freddy Mercado finished the game for San Francisco and earned his 10th save. The win for the Seals lifted their record to 22-15.

Carlos Mora drew 2 walks for San Francisco. The four-time All-Star had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring walk off Miguel Valedón. It was his 13th walk of the season.

"We were in it," said San Jose manager Sean Hogan. "We just didn't score enough runs."
