The Sacramento Ironhorse got a superb performance from pitcher Pedro Gabriel. Still, it wasn't enough to beat San Diego. The Breakers won the game, 2-1. Gabriel threw 8.0 innings of 2-hit ball. Rod Lee picked up the win, lifting his record to 4-2 on the season. He struck out 6 and walked 4 in 7 innings, while yielding 1 run. Earning his 10th save of the year was José Romero.
Juan Álvarez, who is tied for 6th in the CL in stolen bases with 7, had a direct impact on the outcome. Álvarez contributed a solo home run in the top of the fifth inning to put San Diego up, 2-1.
"Tough loss," said Sacramento manager RR Zayx. "But we'll rebound from it."
San Diego occupies 4th place in the Pacific Coast League South at 18-21.
