Owls Win with Late Heroics
Due in part to first baseman Tommy Booth, the San Jose Owls chopped down the Portland Beavers, 10-9, in 12 innings. Booth was 4-6 with a triple, a double, and 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. San Jose reliever Augusto González snagged the win, upping his record to 1-1. Ed Carmichael shouldered the loss. San Jose has now won 3 in a row.

The decisive blow was delivered by Pat McCord in the bottom of the 12th when he hit a 2-run home run off 23-year old right-handed pitcher Ed Carmichael to win the game for San Jose. The home crowd went nuts.

"Ugly win or not, we'll take it," said McCord.
