The Portland Beavers spoiled a good performance by Sacramento third baseman Pablo Pérez, bumping off Sacramento, 6-4, at Multnomah Stadium. Pérez went 3 for 4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 and driving in 3. Portland is last in the Pacific Coast League North with a record of 17-25.

David Barton, who is tied for 3rd in the CL with a .374 batting average, helped out the Portland cause in the bottom of the sixth inning with a run-scoring double. For the game, the second baseman went 1-4 with a double.

"I know we have our doubters," said Sacramento manager RR Zayx. "But I still have high hopes for this team."
