The Portland Beavers beat the Sacramento Ironhorse, 1-0. Portland pitcher and Manhattan, New York, native Robbie McDaniel led the way. Portland has a record of 19-25, placing them last in the Pacific Coast League North.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Beavers had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the second, when catcher Kyle Veeck hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Pedro Gabriel and made the score 1-0, Beavers. Veeck was 3-3 with 3 singles.
"We need to keep playing good baseball," McDaniel told the Portland Daily News.
