Beavers Get Clutch Win Versus San Diego
|
Portland Beavers left-hander Brent Phillips pitched a good game against the San Diego Breakers at Perris Hill Park, leading his team to victory, 2-1. Phillips yielded 1 run over 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 1, and struck out 8. His record improves to 3-4. Scott Witt notched his 5th save of the season.
Ray Tate helped out the Portland cause in the top of the eighth inning with a solo home run. For the game, the shortstop was 1-4 with a home run.
"We just didn't score enough runs to win," said San Diego manager RT Smith.
