The 9-7 Denver win over Las Vegas was due largely to Arthur Beard. The Grizzlies second baseman went 3-3 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Miguel Valedón was the winner. Over 6.1 innings, he yielded 2 runs on 4 hits, with no walks and 7 strikeouts. The save went to Kent Hopkins, his 14th this season.

Brian Carter, who led the PL in doubles with 47 in 2013, came through for Denver with a 2-run home run in the bottom of the eighth. The left fielder went 2 for 4 for the game, including 1 home run and 1 double. He scored 2 runs and collected 2 RBI.

"The team always comes first," Carter told a reporter while responding to autograph requests. "Our fans like to come out to see a win, so I'm happy to do what I can to give them that."

The Grizzlies own a robust 31-15 mark.
