The Long Beach Ports and San Jose Owls left the fans buzzing.

A good performance from third baseman Pablo Mejía helped the San Jose Owls defeat the Long Beach Ports, 8-2. Mejía was 2 for 4 with a home run. He scored 2 times and drove in 2 for the Owls. Miguel Valedón, the winner, improved to 3-2. He held the Ports to 1 run on 6 hits over 5.1 innings, while striking out 4 and walking 2.

Early in the game, left fielder Luis López had a 2-run home run for San Jose. It was his 4th home run of the season and put the Owls on top, 3-1.

"Another day, another win. On to the next one," Mejía told the San Jose Gazette.

San Jose occupies 5th place in the Pacific Coast League North at 22-26.
