The Denver Grizzlies rode a solid performance from 31-year-old starting pitcher Manuel Romero to a win, beating the Austin Cowboys, 5-1, at Jellystone Park. Denver has now reeled off 6 straight wins.

Brian Carter had a big solo home run for the Grizzlies in the bottom of the third inning. With Denver leading 1-0 and the bases empty, he sized up a fastball from 24-year old right-handed pitcher Jon Martínez and punished it. The result was his 12th home run of the season, which put the Grizzlies on top, 2-0.

Romero called the win "a pick-me-upper."
