The Denver Grizzlies beat the New Orleans Pelicans, 8-6, at Higgins Park. Denver center fielder Jon Hunt led the way. He went 1-1 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Denver pitcher Li-ping Kun got the win, upping his record to 4-0. Dan Williams got the loss. Kent Hopkins recorded the save, making him 35 for 40.

With Denver trailing 6-5 in the top of the ninth, Hunt hit a fastball from Dan Williams for a 3-run home run. It was his 12th home run of the season and put the Grizzlies ahead, 8-6.

"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Hunt.

The 4th-place Pelicans have lost 4 consecutive games.
