Ironhorse Come Up Short at Portland, 4-3
The Portland Beavers knocked off the Sacramento Ironhorse, 4-3, in Pacific Coast League action at Multnomah Stadium. Portland pitcher and San Antonio del Tachira, Venezuela, native Francisco Leal had an outstanding performance. Leal yielded 2 runs over 5 innings to notch the win. He scattered 3 hits, walked 1, and struck out 3. His record improves to 8-1. Portland raised its record to 71-57 with the win.

David Barton dealt the Ironhorse a blow in the bottom of the seventh. Batting with a runner on 3rd and Portland leading 3-2, Barton, who is tied for 8th in the CL in stolen bases with 21, hit a 2-1 cutter for a run-scoring single.
