New Orleans and Kansas City duked it out and the Pelicans came out victorious.

Joe James was a vital contributor to the 6-4 New Orleans victory over Kansas City. The Pelicans shortstop went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Bill Ruffin, the winner, is now 1-2. He struck out 5 and walked 1 over 6.1 innings, while allowing 3 runs on 8 hits. Dan Williams converted his 26th save in 36 tries.

The Pelicans got a big at-bat from center fielder Billy Bunch. For the game, Bunch went 1 for 2 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the fourth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 31st home run of the season gave New Orleans a 4-3 lead.

"It's the best feeling when you come through for your teammates," said James.

The win lifted the New Orleans record to 66-66.
