Acorns Take Tight Tangle

The Portland Beavers got a superb performance from pitcher Arthur Bailey. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Oakland. The Acorns won the game, 2-1. Bailey threw 7.0 innings of 3-hit ball. The victory gives Oakland a record of 70-64.
Oakland took a 2-1 lead on Ramón Salcido's 24th home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which Salcido hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Portland pitcher Scott Witt visibly frustrated.
"There are no moral victories," said losing manager Pete Donut.
