The Austin Cowboys did just enough to sneak past the New Orleans Pelicans, 4-3, at Higgins Park. Austin pitcher Jon Martínez, in particular, had a standout performance. Jack García, now 6-3, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on no hits in 2.2 innings. Picking up the save was Will Goodwin. He's now 25 for 31 in save chances.

Austin used the timely hitting of Jimmy Rodríguez to seize the win. The shortstop stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Cowboys on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"Jon attacked hitters and trusted his stuff," said Austin manager John Kolman.

Austin has a record of 69-65, placing them second in the Pioneer League South.
