Both teams had their chances, but the Kansas City Jacks eventually prevailed.

The Kansas City Jacks had to overcome a fine effort from Salt Lake City pitcher Jessie Downing to win, 4-3, at Arthur Bryant Ballpark. Downing went 6.1 innings and allowed 3 runs. Don Follett picked up the save for Kansas City, his 2nd of the year.

Bill Hapgood went 1-3 with a walk for Kansas City. The 23-year old shortstop had a key at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. With two out and the bases loaded, he broke a 3-3 tie with a run-scoring walk off Luis Flores. It was his 22nd walk of the season.

"This was a nice win for us," said Hapgood. "It's one more step toward our ultimate goal."

The win elevated the Jacks to 81-58.
