The Reno Silver Sox took Houston pitcher Jackson Mendoza's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Hogg Field. The final score had Reno getting past the Lone Stars, 4-1. Mendoza went 7 innings and allowed no runs, striking out 10. Reliever Damon Cox picked up the win. His record improves to 1-1. Ron Dunlap, who finished 3rd in the PL in wins with 16 in 2012, took the loss. With the victory, the Silver Sox upped their record to 28-27.

Reno used the timely hitting of Hayden Reese to seize the win. The right fielder stroked a 2-run single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Silver Sox on top, 3-1. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

Said Houston manager Eric Benson: "You just have to tip your cap sometimes."
