Lyons belts 2 home runs, Leads Fireballs to Win
The Phoenix Fireballs topped the Portland Beavers, 7-2, with center fielder Kevin Lyons playing a big role. Lyons hit 2 home runs. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice for the Fireballs in the win. Keith Smith, who went 5.1 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 1 run on 2 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 5. His record now stands at 5-4. José Pérez notched his 2nd save of the season.

Phoenix took a 7-1 lead on Lyons's 23rd home run of the season. The grand slam home run, which he hit off Mike Arnold in the bottom of the eighth, propelled Phoenix to the win.

"I like seeing our guys get a return on what they've put in," said Phoenix manager Jarien Smith.

With the win, the Fireballs have a record of 37-27.
