Garza drives in 4 runs in Hollywood Win
The Hollywood Stars beat the Houston Lone Stars, 8-5, at Hogg Field. Marcos Garza, in particular, was impressive. He was 2-3 with a home run, a triple, and a walk. He scored 3 runs and drove in 4. Herb Whitaker picked up the win, lifting his record to 2-0 on the season. He struck out 4 and walked 2 in 6.2 innings, while yielding 5 runs. The win makes Hollywood 42-23.

The Lone Stars had been locked in a 2-2 tie with the Stars going into the top of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 28-year old shortstop Mike Cardenas came to the plate. Cardenas hit a 2-run home run on a 0-1 fastball from Houston hurler Larry Adams. It was Cardenas's 7th home run of the year.

"Trying isn't good enough in this league," said Cardenas. "You've got to get results."
