The Austin Cowboys picked up a win at Clark Field, knocking off the Reno Silver Sox, 7-3. Starting pitcher Bill Simpson played a key role in the triumph. Simpson yielded 3 runs over 8.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 7 hits, walked 0, and struck out 10. His record improves to 8-5. The Cowboys raised their record to 38-34.

Aurelio Pérez had a big 3-run home run for the Cowboys in the bottom of the first inning. With Austin leading 3-0 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he got a changeup from David Bright, who finished 3rd in the PL in wins with 16 in 2012, and swatted a home run to left. It was his 1st home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Cowboys ahead, 6-0.

"We scored more than enough runs this time," said Austin manager John Kolman. "Now watch. The next game we'll probably struggle to get a base hit."
