The San Diego Breakers defeated the Hollywood Stars, 5-4, in Pacific Coast League action at Perris Hill Park. San Diego pitcher Ernesto Leal had a standout performance. San Diego reliever Greg McLean picked up the win, upping his record to 2-3. Greg Smith was saddled with the loss. The first-place Stars now sit at 47-25.

The defining moment came in the bottom of the ninth for San Diego. That's when Félix Rodríguez hit a run-scoring double off 28-year old left-handed pitcher Eddie Holland to win the game. The home crowd went wild.

"He who laughs last laughs best," Rodríguez said, postgame.
